The Type Of Mirror People Prefer For Their Bathroom
Although choosing the perfect tiles and fixtures for your bathroom is a must, finding the right accessories is important, too. Imagine getting dolled up in the most beautiful, sparkly dress and walking into a party with dirty sneakers. Well, this is how your bathroom feels when you don't put in the effort to find complementary décor! Are your windows naked? Dress them up in a window treatment. Are your floors bare? Layer on some stylish bath mats. From this perspective, a question we've been dying to ask is what type of bathroom mirror do our readers prefer to install in their bathroom?
In an exclusive House Digest survey, we gave participants six options to answer this question: regular wall mirror, ornate and decorative, one with a medicine cabinet, lighted mirror, vanity mirror, and floor-length mirror. As noted by Shower Doors of Charlotte, finding the perfect mirror for your bathroom can help perpetuate a certain aesthetic and add brightness to your space. So, if you're unsure which bathroom mirror you should choose, we've got the dish on the most preferred styles.
Out of 629 respondents, 25.60% (161 people) chose regular wall mirrors as the type they prefer, according to our survey. This isn't much of a surprise since homeowners typically choose accessories that blend with their design scheme. Additionally, regular mirrors are known for complementing the colors and fixtures in a space while also performing their functional duties. Because this bathroom standard is able to reflect both natural and artificial lighting, it can go a long way to make a bathroom feel bigger, notes Soraya Interiors.
A regular wall mirror also comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, such as square, rectangle, oval, and circular. Therefore, it can be used to complement other distinct shapes within your bathroom. For example, if the accent tiles in your shower are full of curves, a circular mirror will help accentuate the shape of those tiles. Another way to make a small bathroom feel larger is to guide the viewer's gaze toward the ceiling by installing a longer mirror.
Coming in second is a mirror with a medicine cabinet, with 23.69% of respondents (149 people) choosing this as their preferred choice for the bathroom. Sidler International points out that mirrors with medicine cabinets are a great option for those who need to better organize their personal items. This is especially true if your countertop space is limited; nobody wants to start off their day by trying to locate something important amongst a cluttered mess. If you think an old-fashioned medicine cabinet will cramp your style, there are recessed options that make it appear as though it's a regular mirror hung flat against the wall.
Per the usual, no matter what type of mirror you choose there will be a variety of styles available to fit different bathroom aesthetics. Some come with LED lights, stylish frames, fun shapes, and unique storage options. As for the rest of the survey results, here's how the other options ranked from most to least amount of votes: lighted mirror with 137 votes (21.78%), vanity mirror with 68 votes (10.81%), ornate and decorative with 65 votes (10.33%), and floor-length with 49 votes (7.79%).
