Iron Giant Best Perks and Tips

Oct 20, 2023

One of the few tanks in MultiVersus is Iron Giant. The Iron Giant is from an animated film with the same name that was released on 1999. Which was then based on a novel authored by Ted Hughes back in 1968. The Iron Giant is allegedly the tallest character ever to be included in a platform fighter where size is important.

However, don't sleep on this dude because of his size. This giant can be a real menace when left alone. Keep reading for details on Iron Giant's moves and some tips and strategies for playing this massive tank.

The Iron Giant is a robot that fell on Earth shortly after the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1. This 50-foot robot was then befriended by a kid named Hogarth Hughes who introduced Superman to him. With no idea what to do in the future, The Iron Giant decided to emulate Superman and become the defender of mankind from evil.

In MultiVersus, The Iron Giant is a colossal fighter towering over the characters. Because of his size, he's very easy to combo and might even be combo'd to oblivion against experienced players. Despite this, he's not a bad character at all as long as you avoid those situations.

This character has some serious combo game and you'd figure that out once you spend a little time with him in The Lab. He even has a command grab that can kill at higher percents. He even has decent edge guarding capabilities.

Iron Giant doesn't have a double jump but instead will hover when you press the jump button while he is in mid-air. This consumes fuel so make sure you manage this resource well. Fuel regenerates while on the ground or while wall clinging.

Speaking of wall clinging, his teammates can use his shoulders as platforms while he is wall clinging. Be careful while clinging though as your opponents might just run off and spike you for an easy kill.

When Iron Giant deals damage or his ally takes damage, he gains rage meter. When it's full, he can enter rage mode which will alter some of his moves and give him gray health while making him immune to knockback. When this gray health is depleted, he exits rage mode. He will also exit rage mode after some time. While in Rage mode, allies can press Normal Neutral input to pilot Iron Giant. They can aim his tentacles and fire light laser projectiles with normal inputs and heavy laser projectiles with special input.

Iron Giant also grants a thorn buff to an ally and to himself as long as they receive gray health. Enemies will be damaged whenever they attack a thorn-buffed character.

For Iron Giant, you want to lean into his ability to survive and lean on the benefits of perks that activate at "high damage" (which the Iron Giant laughs off).

Iron giant is currently dominating with abnormally high win rates at every skill level. Iron Giant's Neutral Special with stacked cooldown reduction and Velma are causing too few windows for opponents to counterplay. Updates to Iron Giant, global updates to perks, and Velma updates should help provide more windows of opportunity for opponents against Iron Giant.
