How To Buy Furniture In Lonesome Village

Oct 15, 2023

You start Chapter Two with a free house, so why not make it feel a bit more like a free home?

At the end of the first chapter of Lonesome Village, Wes receives a house for free as a parting gift from Early the Owl as he leaves the village of Ubhora. It belonged to an old friend of his, but it's yours now, and homeownership is a pass to decorate your space however you'd like.

RELATED: Lonesome Village: Chapter 2 Walkthrough

There are a handful of handymen around Ubhora that are able to fabricate new furniture to allow you to customize Wes' home to your heart's content. We'll break down who sells furniture, where to find them, as well as how many materials you'll need to make new items.

Your first exposure to furniture in Lonesome Village will be from Lulu, Tom the Mouse's wife. She can be found standing outside their home in Center Village, just to the left of the path that leads to the forest. When you speak to her for the first time after saving her and her husband, she offers to thank you for rescuing her with a piece of furniture. Turns out, her husband makes and sells furniture just like it out of their home.

Lulu follows you back to your house, eager to show you just how to lay out your furniture. You won't have much to begin with, but the free table from her is a solid way to learn the mechanics of arranging your space. Use the arrow keys to move items around in the grid that comprises the main part of your home (you, unfortunately, can't change the left area with your supplies), and use the Space Bar to pick up or put down items as you relocate them. If you're no longer into displaying an item, hold it and press E to put it away.

Keep in mind that you're not able to rotate furniture, but you'll find some later that's already rotated when you buy it.

While Lulu was the one who gave you the table, Tom is responsible for its fabrication. He sells a collection of furniture from his house in Center Village, which is the one Lulu was standing beside next to the path to the forest. Tom's furniture is a straightforward purchase that requires no materials from you - you simply give him gold, and he gives you furniture.

Unfortunately, his rad cheese items are not for sale...

Although you first meet Justin as simply a villager, after he helps you repair the bridge to the west part of the Forest at the end of Chapter One, he returns to his carpentry shop just north of the bridge. Here, he sells a catalog of primarily wooden goods, and his pieces will require both the listed materials and gold in order to be made.

Though you don't unlock Roger in the traditional Tower-freeing way, you do still have to find him before he'll sell you anything. To get him to Ubhora, you need to complete the lever puzzle on the west side of the beach next to the lighthouse. The levers will all reset if you get even one wrong.

Don't worry, here's the solution for the puzzle, if the left lever is 1 and the right lever is 6: 3, 1, 6, 2, 4, 5.

After you flip the levers in this order, the lighthouse turns back on and Roger is able to sail his rowboat into the beach dock at long last. He returns home from there to his house in the Forest, out of which he sells his paintings. They're mostly fun takes on classic pieces, and they can be yours in exchange for gold.

You can only purchase each painting once. As tempting as it is to fill your house with the animal Creation of Adam painting for the meme of it, tragically, it's one per customer here.

The local blacksmith, Robert, is a massive help to you from the second you first talk to him outside his blacksmith's shop in the Mountain. He tells you the local mine is blocked and gives you the pickaxe you need to break the rock blocking the path.

Inside, not only do you find the characters central to progressing the plot of Chapter Two, but you also find several rocks like the ones blocking the mines that you're also able to break for resources: stone, iron bars, and gold bars.

Like Justin, Robert requires both materials and gold before he makes your furniture. Additionally, note that he sells a "basic" version of each piece, as well as a bigger version. To make the bigger item, the "basic" item will be required in addition to materials, so plan accordingly. Robert also uses a lot of iron and gold bars, which are obtainable from the rocks in the mines.

Another valuable item from Robert is the golden pickaxe, the tool able to break apart gemstone rocks. To find the handle you need, speak to the moles who gave you the earthquake song again and fulfill their request, then take the part and the materials we'll list below to Robert to get your upgrade.
