fiandre architectural surfaces uplifts luxury apartments in dubai

May 26, 2023

Not far from the iconic Burj Khalifa and the airport, the One Za’abeel mixed-use complex shimmers with the ceramics of Fiandre Architectural Surfaces. The apartments that rise from the two towers on the Dubai skyline bear the signature of Japanese architect Nikken Sekkei, covering a total area of 530,000 sqm. Inside, the Italian manufacturer Fiandre, part of Iris Ceramica Group, dresses the reception area and lobby with its Calacatta Statuario surfaces in collaboration with developer Ithra Dubai.

The two towers – One Za’abeel Tower and One Za’abeel The Residences – offer a range of extra-luxury amenities, with all kinds of comforts and experiences. In this context, the surfaces produced by Fiandre Architectural Surfaces using technologically advanced natural raw materials are ideal. The Italian manufacturing brand partners with distributor Arteco Ceramics to supply bespoke ceramic solutions for projects with high added value, supporting its clients in expressing the identity of projects of this scope. Through the towers, Fiandre showcases its expertise with original applications and the ability to meet the demand for tailored solutions, including brass inlays and decorations, as well as coverings for furnishings and counter tops.

World-class partner Fiandre can be enhanced and customized with great versatility, evident in the case of the flooring throughout the reception area and lobby in The Residences tower. With the ceramic brand's Calacatta Statuario 120×60 cm, in polished finish, the building's interior is enriched with leaf-shaped brass inlays, while the same material is used to cover the floors and common areas of the residential tower, from the corridors to the lift landings and interiors.

Adding a touch of sophistication and a sense of visual continuity to the whole project, the shade Calacatta Statuario is also used in the 264 apartments on the floors, wall coverings, shower trays and counter tops in the bathrooms, in a range of different configurations. With a view to recovering materials and minimizing waste, Arteco ensures that the surfaces used produced the least possible waste of material. Additionally, to embellish the scenographic spaces endowed with a sophisticated total-look, some of the showers are decorated with herringbone-like patterns.

In line with the United Arab Emirates’ goal of zero net carbon emissions by 2050, One Za’abeel aims to offer the highest standards of sustainability. The choice of using Fiandre surfaces, designed with the same approach, falls within this vision that seeks to respect and protect the environmental heritage, creating well-being through materials. Consequently, the Italian-made technical surfaces have obtained Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver, one of the most ambitious global standards for the design and production of safe, circular and responsible products.
