'Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection' Brings Six Classics to 4K in Coffee Table Book Packaging - Bloody Disgusting

Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection will collect six of the Master of Suspense’s classics on 4K Ultra HD + Digital: Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, Vertigo, North By Northwest, Psycho, and The Birds.

Releasing on November 26 via Universal, the six-disc set is limited to 5,150. It’s housed in premium book-style packaging featuring artwork by Tristan Eaton along with photos, bios, and trivia.

In 1954’s Rear Window, “A wheelchair-bound photographer spies on his neighbors from his apartment window and becomes convinced one of them has committed murder.”

It’s written by John Michael Hayes (To Catch a Thief), based on Cornell Woolrich’s 1942 short story “It Had to Be Murder.” James Stewart, Grace Kelly, Wendell Corey, Thelma Ritter, and Raymond Burr star.

Rear Window special features:

In 1955’s To Catch a Thief, “A retired jewel thief sets out to prove his innocence after being suspected of returning to his former occupation.”

It’s written by John Michael Hayes (Rear Window), based on David Dodge’s 1952 novel of the same name. Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, Jessie Royce Landis, and John Williams star.

To Catch a Thief special features:

In 1958’s Vertigo, “A former police detective juggles wrestling with his personal demons and becoming obsessed with a hauntingly beautiful woman.”

It’s written by Alec Coppel (No Highway in the Sky) and Samuel A. Taylor (Sabrina), based on Boileau-Narcejac’s 1954 novel The Living and the Dead. James Stewart, Kim Novak, Barbara Bel Geddes, Tom Helmore, and Henry Jones star.

Vertigo special features:

In 1959’s North by Northwest, “A New York City advertising executive goes on the run after being mistaken for a government agent by a group of foreign spies, and falls for a woman whose loyalties he begins to doubt.”

It’s written by Ernest Lehman (The Sound of Music, West Side Story). Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, and Jessie Royce Landis star.

North by Northwest special features:

In 1960’s Psycho, “A secretary on the run for embezzlement takes refuge at a secluded motel owned by a repressed man and his overbearing mother.”

It’s written by Joseph Stefano (The Outer Limits), based on Robert Bloch’s 1959 novel of the same name. Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, John Gavin, Martin Balsam, John McIntire, and Janet Leigh star.

Psycho special features:

In 1963’s The Birds, “A wealthy San Francisco socialite pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town that slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people.”

It’s written by Evan Hunter (High and Low), based on Daphne du Maurier’s 1952 short story of the same name. Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, and Veronica Cartwright star.

Airing as part of ABC’s Wide World of Mystery in 1973, five-part horror series The Classic Ghosts has been rescued from obscurity for a Blu-ray release on October 29.

Bloody Disgusting is teaming up with Kino Lorber to give away three copies of the Blu-ray set.

Produced by broadcast pioneer Jacqueline Babbin (Sybil, All My Children), The Classic Ghosts has been preserved by the UCLA Film & Television Archive.

“The Haunting of Rosalind” (65 min) is directed by Lela Swift, based on a story by Henry James. Pamela Payton-Wright, Susan Sarandon, Beatrice Straight, and Frank Converse star.

“The Screaming Skull” (67 min) is directed by Gloria Monty, based on a story by Francis Marion Crawford. David McCallum, Vince Gardenia, and Carrie Nye star.

“The Deadly Visitor” (66 min) is directed by Lela Swift, based on a story by Fitz-James O’Brien. Perry King, Gwen Verdon, and James Keach star.

“The House and the Brain” (65 min) is directed by Gloria Monty, based on a story by Edward Bulwer-Lytton. Carol Williard, Hurd Hatfield, Keith Charles, and Maryce Carter star.

“And the Bones Came Together” (66 min) is directed by Henry Kaplan, based on a story by Sholomo Keil. Robin Strasser, Laurence Luckinbill, and Herbert Berghof star.

The two-disc set includes interviews with Mark Quigley (John H. Mitchell Television Curator of the UCLA Film & Television Archive), Maya Montañez Smukler (Head of the UCLA Film & Television Archive Research and Study Center), and film historian Amanda Reyes, as well as a demonstration by DC Video’s David Crosthwait of the technology required to reclaim the program from the now-obsolete 2″ videotape format.
