There are lots of good coffee tables out there, but we’re on the hunt for the best. In our expert opinion, the best coffee tables are ones that are as functional as they are elegant. So we set out to round up a collection of this living room essential, and after quite a bit of searching, we found 24 that are worthy of the most stylish spaces. The great thing about coffee tables is that they don't need to be enormous or come with a set of proverbial bells and whistles to work in your home.

That said, ahead, you’ll still find a few large ones with everything from ample storage to hidden seating. We included a massive range of coffee tables that vary in price, style, and functionality, so no matter what kind of piece you’re after, you’ll surely find it here. The best part? Plenty of our favorite finds are under $200. Otherwise, feel free to splurge on something luxurious and one-of-a-kind, like an organically shaped piece with a top made entirely of fossilized clams that are more than 40 million years old. Intrigued? You’ll have to keep scrolling to see it for yourself.

If you need that finishing touch for your living room, you’ve come to the right place. Below, you’ll find what we’d consider to be the best coffee tables on the market. We promise; these will add an elevated flair to your space.

Let's start with a simple coffee table that's under $200. Not only is the surface large enough to house all of your essentials, but there's a second level for anything you like having on hand while you lounge. The streamlined and sharp-lined silhouette paired with the neutral hue makes it a versatile piece that will work in any space. If you're not into such a pale color on a table that, let's face it, suffers a lot of spills, it also comes in six colors.

Available for delivery on or before the first of June, this elegant coffee table is classic Serena & Lily: It's coastal, it's cool, and it's timeless. Plus, the polished top is made of ancient fossilized clams that lived over 40 million years ago. They were collected from a remote mountainous island in the central Philippines, expertly preserved, and on full display atop the Truro coffee table. If you can't decide on a material for your coffee table, this one from Nathan James comprises them all: glass, metal, and wood. If you don't want to subject the delicate glass top to scratches and cracks, put anything a bit more heavy-duty on the wooden shelf beneath. It's only 39 inches wide, so if you have a small space and don't want to forgo a classic coffee table, this is your best bet.

This sculptural coffee table may look like it weighs about a million pounds, but it's actually quite lightweight. Well, it's 60 pounds, which is hardly a lot considering it's handmade of volcanic stone. It's finished in fiberglass and sand resin, both of which make it a lot more durable, so there's no need to be too precious with it. In fact, it's so durable that you can even use it outside. We, however, think it shines brightest indoors with only a few things on it, including a coffee table book and a flower vase.

Frontgate's Malta coffee table is 50% off, so if you're in need of a luxury accent piece but don't want to spend more than $1,000, you're in luck. We love this piece because it's handcrafted to mimic the unique look and texture of Swedish Gustavian antiques. Of course, it's not nearly as fragile—especially because it's made of durable acacia wood.

Here's the thing: No one is buying a $44 coffee table and expecting it to last forever. In fact, we'd expect it to fall apart rather quickly. This one, however is a real diamond in the rough. It's made of powder-coated metal and a durable MDF grain wood top. It can also withstand a lot of weight (the top can bear up to 132 pounds and the shelf up to 44), so feel free to pile it with all of your favorite goodies and decor.

When we think of Maiden Home, which we admittedly do often, we think of plush sofas and bouclé chairs, but the New York-based brand actually has a sizable collection of furniture that extends beyond just seating. Case in point: The Morro table, which comes in three sizes. Because it's in stock, it ships within five business days, which is rare when it comes to luxury pieces. Plus, as is the case with all Maiden Home furniture, it's handmade in the U.S.

Technically, this is a nesting table, but is it a nesting table if the smaller pieces that tuck under the bigger one are stools? We think so! So does Crate & Barrel. Not only do we adore this because because of its unique aesthetic, but it's also a multi-functional piece, and we'll never say no to that. Let's focus on the table part for a moment: It features detailed cathedral graining that's further enhanced by an ivory ceruse finish. It's a show-stopper to say the least.

Without context, this coffee table, which arrives fully assembled, looks enormous, but it's only 31 inches wide. The surface boasts a slight lip, so if you're prone to dropping things, rest assured they won't roll off never to be found again. There's also a slightly smaller shelf underneath the tabletop for anything you don't necessarily want out and on-hand all the time. We are also obsessed with the caned siding, which gives it a vintage feel.

This coffee table is so cool because it looks totally different from various perspectives—the most interesting of which is from above. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the panels—the white one and the one topped with walnut veneer—rotate to reveal cleverly hidden storage beneath. If you're thinking there's no way you'll be able to assemble this moving coffee table yourself, worry not. It arrives in one box fully assembled.

Can you tell we have a thing for nesting tables? This pair is a bit more traditional than the few earlier on our list, but the marble finish makes it feel totally contemporary and cool. We'll let you in on a secret, though; It's not marble. It's made of a hardy material that's much less porous than the natural stone it's meant to imitate. One warning: The pieces may not be marble, but they are heavy, which can make some of the hardware come loose overtime. Be sure to tighten the screws if you ever notice the tops becoming wobbly.

We couldn't round up the best coffee tables and not include an authentic live edge option. Because they're all one-of-a-kind, each one is unique, meaning it will have slight variations in shape, size and color, but you can expect something quite similar to the one pictured. Also, an organic live edge coffee table for just over $500? That's a pretty good deal. It also comes with free delivery.

Constructed entirely of solid oak wood, this Lulu and Georgia coffee table is one of the coolest we've seen. There may not be shelves, but what it lacks in storage it makes up for in style. From the curved, outward-facing legs to the thick slab of wood, the Ada is an instant eye-catcher. That said, it's not so overwhelming that it competes with the rest of your sofa. We'd suggest pairing it with a similarly round sofa to create a fluid vignette.

There's something bohemian about inlaid bone that can captivate anyone in its presence. If you're in the market for something more neutral, it also comes in black. Both colors, though, are hand-crafted using the same centuries-old technique as that of artisans from ancient Egypt, where this style originated. Because this furniture is crafted by hand, no two pieces are exactly alike, making yours unique.

All of Soho Home's unique pieces are inspired by one of the members-only club's 39 outposts. The Tisbury coffee table's design, for instance, was influenced by London's 180 House, just a few blocks from the Thames. The three-legged table is made entirely of Indian marble and is available in brown and black variations. Though it's super study and will hold up against most wear and tear, natural marble is porous, so try not to spill because it will stain. Most importantly, if you're a Soho House member, you can score the table for $1,611.

Available in two sizes or as a set, this fluted table from Homary is on major sale. The shockingly low price isn't even the best part, though. The top rotates to reveal a massive storage bin. So if you're decorating a small living space and don't have a lot of room to spare for storage, this is a great find. Though we wouldn't recommend leaving the top totally bear, piling it with too much decor could make opening and closing the lid difficult. Go with a book or two, a vase, or a small candlestick holder.

Size: It's very important to know the size of your living room and couch. If you're in a studio apartment, choosing a coffee table that takes up the room will swallow up the limited space available. Pro tip: make sure your coffee table is no more than two-thirds of your sofa's total length. It should be the same height as the cushions of your sofa.

Style & Function: There are countless coffee tables available online. Narrowing down what works in your space is all about the purpose your coffee table will serve. Choose from circle, rectangle, or abstract tabletops to display your favorite vase and coffee table books. Or you can snag a pick with hidden storage as a home for your TV remote. Overall, countless coffee tables have shelving, built-in storage, or even additional seating.

Material: Wood, marble, metal, glass, wicker—there's so much to choose from! Depending on your preference, the pros and cons of certain materials won't affect you. If you have curious pets or little ones, choosing a glass table might not be the best option. For those looking for a statement piece, a metal drum coffee table can command the room, but the downside is that it lacks storage space.

Budget: We found coffee tables that were under $500 and options over $2,000. You don't have to break the bank to score a chic coffee table—it's up to what is accessible for your lifestyle.

Maintaining the quality of your coffee table comes down to the material it's made of. A glass cleaner and cloth can keep your glass table spotless, but it wouldn't work well on different surfaces. If it's real wood, use mild detergent and water. A stone cleaner and a soft cloth are needed to clean a marble table. We suggest keeping coasters on standby as a thoughtful preventative measure for keeping your coffee table ring, stain, and smudge-free.
